I didn't really know what to expect from that LP. After
all, I had only heard his Rain Men remix. Then again, that remix was dope, so I did know
what to expect....and I got what I expected. I'll start with the end by saying that NO, it
is not a good idea to insert several blank minutes between the last songs....Jesus....That
will be close to the only bad say I have to say about it. Its 35 track listing is very
heterogeneous, and I find myself smiling at some of them, especially the spanish one. Now,
it's 35 tracks long, but most of them only last around 2 minutes. But it's largely enough
to imagine how incredible they would be if they were enhanced and blessed with the verses
of some Anticon heads. You have to imagine a hypothetical result, as this is mainly an
instrumental LP which Controller 7 compiled all by himself. I can even give proof of the
possibilities: there's a remix of The Candle, song you find on the Deep Puddle Dynamics
LP. Amazing. There's also another remix of Rain Men, but not as good as his original
remix. It just doesn't sound as right. But don't get me wrong: it's a good track. Now,
whenever you get that LP, and you eventually will, skip directly to track 34, sit down,
gaze at your ceiling, and cry. It's Jacques Brel you're listening to, and man was I
surprised he even knew of him. That's the beat he used on the Rain Men 12", in case
you were wondering where you had heard it. You're welcome. So, basically, the whole point of this review is to say that all the tracks aren't amazing ones, but it's close enough. He blessed us with 35 great beats, some of them he had more fun with than others, and I just can't wait till he exploits them. And he will. |
