Buck 65 is a mystery to me, simply because he rhymes about baseball. He's also a mystery because he does everything himself: production and lyrics. He's a mystery because the artwork he chose on his Lp is, well....weird, to say the least. He also figured it would be more convenient if he didn't name the tracks on his album, probably not believing that this would lead people like me to have trouble making a review in the first place.

Would you be surprised if I said that I really love this LP? Thought so. But then again, I'm not the only one: many consider it to be a classic. And here's why:

1_the lyrics are incredible. Whatever message he has to deliver, he'll do it right, be it a baseball game, a tale of a "gifted" Centaur, or how he finds his beats. And this time I can actually talk about the lyrics (I have more trouble with Dose, for example), cause Buck's delivery is clearly understandable, despite the multi-syllabic rhymes. Oh, and the guy's really funny sometimes, too, which adds to the overall charms of Vertex.

2_the beats are incredible. There are so many in one track, it's impossible to keep count. They're what gives such a particular feeling to that album. They're an atmosphere coming out of it that can be relaxing and head nodding at the same time.

3_ the patterns are incredible. There are several movements in each song, which means you have a feeling they're way more than 18 tracks. Either that or it gives you the impression that there's only one very great single 63 minute long track.

This review isn't very long, despite the greatness of the LP, but it's simply because I've rather perfectly described the atmosphere of it all. If you're into it, you'll have trouble getting free of it. If you're not, well, make an effort, you won't regret it. Trust me, for once. Damn this LP is great....sorry, had to say it one last time.
